Thank you to everyone who voted! I am normally one of those people who does the opposite of what people tell me so I nearly went with reckonings even though the majority picked otherwise but I really like this name!

Game of Thrones aka finally something non-kpop related )
So I am like 2.5 episodes away from finishing Coffee Prince and if I thought it was physically painful to watch before, now that they're all cute and shit is is a million times worse. LITERALLY MFEO.

And in irl news, today is my birthday! Which I have said all over the internet because I am one of those people who gets really excited about their birthday, even if turning 20 has made me feel spectacularly old. I know I am not actually qualified to feel old yet, but I'm not a teenager anymore. It is weird.

Alex threw me a party, which was really nice because my family doesn't really do birthdays so I haven't had a party since I was a toddler. He also got me this shirt and it is so perfect in person. I have to exchange it for a smaller size, but once I do, I plan on never taking it off. My sisters also got me tickets to see Aziz Ansari at the end of April.

Okay, I think I've rambled and used enough hyperboles for one day. Goodbye cruel world.

I wrote all of this last Saturday which means by now it's all super old news that I don't want to talk about anymore, but basically the weekend before last my grandma went into the hospital. She ended up having to get her gallbladder removed but she's doing well now! I was really scared for her because she's the grandparent I'm closest to out of the two I have left and I'm not ready to lose her.

And as for my body, I am not doing so well? I guess let me first say that my jaw has been popping when I opened my mouth for years, but like it only started hurting in December. So, I went to the clinic at school and my doctor literally was like "wow" when he felt my jaw. SUPER REASSURING!!!! So he recommended this physical therapist and I had my first appointment on Wednesday and it was a little awkward having some dude stick his hand into your mouth and pull it in different directions (and also sort of expensive SOBS), but what can you do? I'm not sure if like the muscles in my neck and face are just sore but my entire upper region just aches. And I think I'm getting a cold. /complaining

Before I get into TV babble, when I was home the weekend before last, I bought myself a new purse, so I thought I'd do one of those "what's in my purse" memes!

meme. )

TV things! )

...And that was a lot of words about a stupid show, wow. I was going to talk about Shameless and the Le Visiteur du Futur finale, but I am trying to finish Traitor's Moon tonight so I need to shut up now.

Does anyone else ever make really arbitrary reasons for putting off posting? I lost my debit card over the break and of course they have to mail my new one to my home address, which in turn has to be mailed to me at school, so I'm broke for the time being and I need to renew my paid account/buy more icon space and I was like, "Nah, I won't post until my debit card gets here." Except that's stupid, so here I am.

So, new friends: my name is Emily. I'm a 19 and I'm a sophomore at UNC Asheville studying psychology. I would say that I am normally not this long-winded, but that is a lie as of late. I am behind on commenting on other people's entries so don't be surprised if I leave you a comment on a week-old entry sometime soon.

Academic babble. )

Media related things: Weekend and The Magician King )

This entry is already too long and has nothing to do with anything. Sorry to disappoint you, new friends. I hope everyone has a great weekend, though! I am personally hoping for some snow.

A somewhat comprehensive list of
things Emily enjoyed this year.

This is just an excuse to use Photoshop. )

Other things I was too lazy to picspam include: Friday Night Lights (why did it take me so long to get around to watching it? WHY?); Game of Thrones (but not the second book ugh fuck it); and Parks and Recreation (I feel like I've been watching it forever.)

Happy new year, guys!

So, an entry in which the main point isn't about Breaking Bad. Alex and I haven't really been able to really hang out one-on-one much this year because he's a bio major which means he actually has to work (and I, as a psych major, get to laze around and read) and he's in a suite this year with three other dudes so it's basically noisy and obnoxious all the time. So we finally got a proper evening to be alone last week and we saw Another Earth:

Thoughts on that. )

Breaking Bad. )

Downton Abbey. )

I also watched Attack the Block over the weekend but I'm too lazy to type up any thoughts on that beyond the fact that it was absolutely delightful.

Also, I did end up going to Biltmore with Alex's family and it was actually really fun and not that stressful!

just a few pictures )

For those of you who don't know, it's the largest privately owned residence in the US and it was built in the late 1800s. It features a lot of really awesome architecture and art and Napoleon's freaking chess set. I really wish that they'd allow photography inside the house because it is the most unreal, gorgeous thing I've ever seen. I particularly loved Edith's bedroom and the kitchen area. It's basically a required visit if you're ever in Asheville.

So I started writing an entry what I thought was a couple weeks ago and it turns out it was almost two months ago. Oops.

All I have been watching lately is Adventure Time and Red vs Blue so the only other thing I can really talk about is Breaking Bad, unless you want my really deep thoughts on Final Destination 5. In 3D.

Breaking Bad season four )

So I was going to mention the fact that I just went on vacation a couple of weeks ago but then I realized it's been all summer since I've updated and I didn't get to mention going to Niagara Falls. One of my friends told me before I left that he didn't like the city itself but when I got there I realized he was delusional because it is awesome. It's like Myrtle Beach in Canada, so really the only difference is people are wearing more clothes. And the drinking age is 19 so that was a bonus.

I didn't really get any pictures of the falls themselves because I didn't want to lug my camera around/didn't want to get it wet on the Maid of the Mist but here's the view from our hotel room.

And finally, I'm moving back to Asheville on Sunday! I cannot tell you how excited I am to be back in a real city, even if it is full of dirty hipsters.
